The Seeker is a horrible big pink worm thing that appears on a couple of occasions in Tron 2.0. It’s pretty effective as a boss: it looks fairly intimidating, and if you find yourself actually getting in the line of fire, you’ll be dead pretty quickly, so you have that initial feeling of “jeez, how am I ever going to get past this?”
However, as is usually the case with this kind of thing, the ways to survive soon become obvious and there’s a pattern to the boss’s movements that will allow you to do some damage yourself. The Seeker battles in Tron 2.0 can be fairly tough, but they’re beatable, as long as you don’t do anything silly, like I did. If you do, then the first one will seem absolutely interminable, and you might get upset.
I’m not going to offer a step-by-step guide, but to help fellow gamers avoid the same fate, I will give you one piece of crucial advice: do not start this battle without having the Profiler subroutine – which displays an enemy’s name and health level – enabled. Otherwise, you won’t be able to tell how much damage you’re doing to the Seeker, and you may (erroneously) assume that its frequent retreats are an indication of damage sustained and persist in a lengthy but ultimately fruitless battle, during which you’re sure that you’re on the brink of victory but have perhaps caused the enemy little to no harm.
I’m not sure if there’s a particular weapon you need to use, but I used the Ball bomb for this first battle. (Second time around, I used the Mesh gun: in many ways the second Seeker battle is tougher – you’ve got pesky DataWraiths to contend with at the same time – but by this point you’ve already got the experience of the first one under your belt and you’re less likely to pursue a foolish strategy).
