If you really don’t want to know anything about any of the characters in I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, then feel free to stop reading and play the game instead. Otherwise, read on at the risk of mild spoilers…
Gorrister
Gorrister finds himself trapped on some kind of airship powered by tortured animals. Upon landing he finds a bar bearing his name and some characters from his past life, including his wife and mother in law. A grizzled trucker type with a voice like Johnny Cash, Gorrister must confront and overcome guilt about his wife’s mental illness while resisting the temptation of a suicide that he has long craved.
Ellen
Sent to some kind of technological pyramid by AM, Ellen must harness the knowledge from her previous career as an electronic engineer while battling the effects of a serious past trauma. A representation of Ellen, ill and bed-ridden, also appears in Ted’s story.
Benny
Trapped in an ape’s body, Benny is sent to a tribal village where inhabitants are picked off one by one as human sacrifices to AM. There he must also confront misdeeds in his past life as a military officer.
Nimdok
In the least pleasant of I Have No Mouth‘s stories, former Nazi doctor Nimdok is transported back to a World War 2 concentration camp to be reminded of the terrible experiments he conducted on behalf of the regime, along with other disturbing revelations about his past.
Ted
Wearing the 90s sleazeball’s uniform of choice (a sweater draped over the shoulders), former smooth talking con-man Ted finds himself in medieval castle. The lies of his past come back to haunt him as he finds himself dealing with a number of characters who can’t be trusted.
