One of Driver‘s more novel features is the Film Director mode, which allows you to cut together footage of your last race using a variety of camera angles to make it look like a scene from a film. While hunching over your PC keyboard considering which angle would be best to watch a car drive through some cardboard boxes isn’t something you want to spend too much of your time doing, it remains a surprisingly compelling feature. The auto-direct allows you to get an idea of what’s possible (cycling through the various cameras while your replay is running) and with careful editing you can put together something reasonably watchable. The only downside is the lack of mouse support, which leaves you with either the keyboard or a joypad, neither of which is ideal for such a task (insert your own grumble about console ports here).
